But with that wireless being provided by the Windows 7 computer, then I think this is your issue. So from what you are saying it appears that the Mac is connecting directly to the Dell via wireless. But from the Print & Scan pane, if you selected the Default icon after selecting to add and saw the Dell in this view, then you are not printing via a Windows share but printing directly to the Dell. Via Print & Scan, if you selected to add and then selected the Windows icon and browsed through the workgroup > computer > sharename, then this would be connecting to a Windows shared printer. As for the Windows sharing, this will depend on how you are adding the printer on the Mac.
